After setting CP's in all weather conditions, preparing paperwork, maps, insurance, permits, t-shirts, prizes, awards, sponsorships and so on and on..... Sunday morning came at early 5am. and it was raining. Thanks HART, you got your wish and we are blaming you for this crappy day. Chuck arrived before 7am and we were off to set up for 8am registrations. Still raining.... we set out the last CP and put out the sign and unload the trucks in rain.....chipping ice in the rain off the sidewalks. Hopefully no one falls before they sign the waiver.

Everyone that registered showed up but about 5, thought that was pretty good considering the weather forecast. Oh ....the wind is blowing now.....thanks HART.......so anyway the pre race briefing went well. A photo was given to all racers of a mystery checkpoint that was on course A. Using the photo, they could try to ID which checkpoint # it was and they would earn an extra 10 points. This played with the racers minds alittle and turned out to be an interesting discussion around the soup pot. Also just for fun and safety we placed five Polar Bottles along with water and snacks at a predetermined location. The first five would get a free Polar Bottle on the spot and all the snacks they wanted. We also kept the snack box full for any late arrivals. Someone commented this was unique to get snacks on the AR course.

By now the weather had shifted to our request...warm and sunny/cloudy. Sorry HART....well not really, we wanted this weather, I guess we both win.

About 2:35 the first racers arrived having finished with course A .  Team Topoadventuresports.org were first in and close behind the was Rourke. Rourke had to leave for a prior appointment and could not go onto course B. Waldo was next in by a few minutes and wasted no time to get on course B. Waldo and Team Topo both punched the same 4 CP's  but Waldo was able to beat them out on time by just 1 minute, or maybe even seconds. These were the only ones to attempt course B. Topoadventuresports.org  are out of Columbus and invite anyone to train with them, obiviously their training works. Waldo hails from that state up north (Mich.) and works with SMACworld.com .

After scoring the cards, awards were handed out to the top 5 solos and teams. They were able to pick from Princeton Tech lights, Swiss army knives, Polar Bottles , NSFAdventure t-shirts, Crankssports  and Tecumseh  tickets. The Outdoor Source  provided every racer with an exclusive discount for their store in Upper Arlington, online and their future store in Westerville.

We all enjoyed a big pot of vegetable soup with 55 degrees and sunny... I win HART!!!!

Wait, wait, wait.........Here comes team All Terrain Females. Something about having so much fun and lost track of time costed them a very late arrival. That 83 was not worth it cause you lost it after being so late, sorry ladies.

A special thanks to Todd from Race-COAR.com  and Katie for helping all day!!!!

Since The Great Seal State Park is essentially an out and back park, we felt for safety a snack drop was needed. Polar Bottle helped us out by providing free water bottles to make it more interesting. The first 5 racers to reach the drop would find FREE Polar Bottles. Well Todd and I waited for the first team to take advantage of this new offering. We heard leaves rustling from above, but it was 4 deer checking us out, so we waited more......then another noise from above.....aaahhh Team Sore Loosers was the first. A 3 hour team at that had busted down south to get em a free Polar Bottle. After picking their favorite bottles we discuss how they got there so fast and how many CP's they have gotten. And I got this answer "We ran all the way, we did not get any CP's" I ask why " CP's are just a distraction, we wanted these Polar Bottles" These guys make it all worth while, evidentally they read the gearlist and brought their sense of humor. I' not sure if they made it back, I never seen them since. Thanks for your inspiration.

Solo racer JO was able to capture the 3rd bottle and Team Two Dicks and a Stick got the last two.

Team Sore Loosers first to the Polar Bottle H2O /snack drop.
