A midnight start is a challenge for anyone, but everyone was eager to get going and see the sights and wildlife that Great Seal has to offer while searching for checkpoints. The full moon and breeze was comforting but offered little help in finding checkpoints. Although it was a awesome moon, it was little help due to the heavy canopy of trees. But racers were treated to small amounts of undergrowth.
As racers began checking in, stories of being lost was common. I asked,"lost or temporarily misplaced?" Well we think everyone returned so I'd say misplaced. The course offered up some some surprise difficult CP's such #43 and #33. Everyone returned to a Hash House that smelled of Chuck's pancakes, sausage, bacon and the stinch of 58 racers laughing, vomitting and sharing adventures from the trail.
Congrats to everyone for finishing and performing at your personal best.
